ISTD – Food for Thought

BRIEF:

To investigate food and express a new viewpoint using Typography in any way or medium.

SOLUTION:

I focused on chocolate, as the majority of the population in the world eat it, yet, not many of us know that there is in fact an on-going cocoa crisis that may affect the future of the chocolate industry. Therefore, I wanted to communicate the viewpoint that if the cocoa crisis continues, a life without chocolate could come as a result and end up taking away the simple, however valuable experiences we have with it.

This was done in a booklet that depicts the look and feel of real chocolate packaging and holds simple stories of people’s experiences with chocolate. The front portrays a ‘100% cocoa’ chocolate, while on the back it shows what packaging would look like for a chocolate that contains ‘0% cocoa’.

The booklet also becomes interactive as people can “unwrap” the booklet into a poster, which then shows the reasoning behind the possible end of chocolate.
